The artistic meaning of wav’s new 3-song release is that as an outcast, God isn’t fishing for wav, the exotic fish.From LA, the 26 year old provides a dreamlike experience that will immerse you in your own inner energy as wav’s voice echoes from his own daunting abyss. Dark trap elements and instrumentals give the foundation and solidify the concept throughout the “exotic fish” EP.
The first song “pray for me” combines an alternative-like bass riff with trap drums that resemble the sound of Travis Scott’s “birds in the trap sing mcknight”. wav has a mastered sound to his voice which he uses as his best asset. The deep tune to it gives you a passionate, introspective, and soothing feeling when you hear it. “dont go outside (smoke 2 this)” is an extremely relaxing vibe that gave me a sense of euphoria. Really the ideal song to play during a sesh. The last song “dance kathy remastered” has a smooth indie guitar which then uniquely fuses with techno sounds highlighting wav’s freeing, profound lyrics and vocal dexterity.
With no intention of slowing down his artistic development he also recently released 2 tracks labeled “Suicide by gunshot” which includes “purple sprite freestyle” and “Ride 4 U“. On these 2 songs he is more free in how and what he expresses. Theres more room for his rapping with harder hitting drums and less melody than “exotic fish” thanks to Cxrtbain‘s production. Wav introduces a more positive and lifting feeling with his tone and lyrics.
As an opposite reflection of his conflicting consciousness he provides us “Antihero“, the harder, more aggressive tracks that suit him very well. The dark electronic melody and deep 808s in “fear x loathing” set the stage for wav‘s less tuned and more raspy raps that give him a villianous vibe. “why” is more sad than dark but still dives deep into the negative emotions and thoughts that wav goes through. Antihero has a more natural feel due to him producing the songs himself.
