Some artists are terrific at creating sonic worlds with their music. You have no choice but to freefall backwards into unfamiliar territory and be surrounded by brand new shapes and colors. On “FaygoFeelings“, Florida artist Vit6l welcomes you to his bright and trippy world with a smile and a wave.
At only an 8 minute run time, Vit6l is able to draw you in with textured melodies over fast-paced high-hats. His vocals weave around these simplistic drum patterns to create a feeling of zero gravity. The title track on “FaygoFeelings” is a great introduction to the cloud-like atmosphere surrounding Vit6l’s debut project. The slowed-down intro switches up to a laid back track that is just a hint of Vit6l’s diversity. DJ Swuice does an incredible job creating a minimalistic canvas for the Florida man to showcase his keen ear for melodies.
Vit6l’s range as a vocalist is expansive and that shows throughout these four tracks. The way he approaches an instrumental is calculated, he never wastes a second of a song. This is most prominent on the song “w/DESIGNER”. Vit6l’s rapid fire delivery switches between a high-pitched whine to a low whisper, creating an unforgettable song structure.
“FaygoFeelings” introduces us to a new voice out of the south, one that you will never be able to pin down. Vit6l’s debut project is a showcase of his out-of-this-world talent. These four tracks transport you into the artist’s world and once you’re there, you won’t want to leave.
