Marc the Prophet has been making music for the past seven years, and while his sound has improved with each passing year, his work ethic has also done nothing but increase. He is applying the pressure early this year, dropping his latest single “Type Shit” less than a month into 2023. The track is produced by Austin Knoll and engineered by Taylor Whitney.
As he puts it, “Type Shit” is simply “just a banger to start off the year”. Marc the Prophet’s punchlines fit perfectly over the energetic instrumental, which sounds like a modern take on an old-school classic hip-hop beat. And according to the artist himself, when he heard it, he knew exactly what to do.
“I heard the beat…and immediately started writing to it,” said Marc the Prophet. “It gave me a feeling of fun so I had to add to that; I couldn’t take away from the energy it gave.”
While Marc will take most of the plaudits for the performance and execution of the song, he emphasized the importance of working together with others to achieve a better product.
“Collaboration is the crux of success, so I try to bring as many different people on a project at a time so we can all work together,” he said. “In total, between the beat, the recording of the song, and the shooting of the promo and post-release content, this song and everything with it took eleven people to come to life.”
His next moves include shifting his focus to gaining more exposure outside of the Tampa area; an area which he says he knows well and loves so much, but is ready to move on from. He is also planning on releasing more singles that will lead up to a yet-to-be-titled project, and unselfishly, also plans on helping those that he rocks with get to the next level.
