Saego recently released his EP, “Long Story Short.” He described his second EP as a “collection of seven different moods.” He wanted to show people that he had evolved and come so far compared to his previous music. He also wanted to prove that he was him and destined for greatness.
He went for a simplistic look for his EP, but he explained that there was a deeper meaning. He’s wiping his glasses because he can see clearly that he is capable of big things. The shadows in the background represent the darkness he’s leaving behind him.
He said that the EP’s intro is a song made two years ago. He made it on his second move to LA, where he had a defining moment in his career. When making that song, Saego decided that he would fully dedicate himself to his craft.
“I don’t care what anyone thinks,” he said, “I’m going to make music how I like it. Living in houses with 15 people, sleeping on couches, sleeping in cars, and then having a label deal not work out made me think I don’t need anyone. I’m the source. I am what the people want. With this EP, I’m showing people that no matter what happens, you have to keep going.”
Saego said his first EP, “Beginners Luck,” was an experiment to gauge his potential, but on “Long Story Short,” he’s showcasing his growth.
“It really shows the gap,” he said. “I’m doing better storytelling; I’m explaining what I’ve been experiencing the past couple of years. Every single song on that album has a story. Everything I said was a moment. I experienced it, I felt it, I saw it. This heartfelt crazy music I’ve been working on.”
He’s found a new attachment with this EP because it contains many stories of what he’s been going through. He finally found a way to genuinely connect with his audience with his music, but also with extracurriculars. He plans to release music videos on his YouTube channel for every song and even hosted a listening party.
“Everything is more cohesive,” he said. “Everything is more of a product rather than just releasing music.”
He had his first-ever listening party for it as well back in his hometown. People may know Saego from being in LA for a good part of his career thus far, but he explained he used LA as a tool for promotion and created most of his music back home in Worcester, MA.
“I’m not planning on returning to LA anytime soon,” he said. “I’m building everything back up in my hometown. The support here is a lot more genuine. People are like, ‘that’s someone I used to know; I’m glad he’s doing this.'”
Saego has come far from his previous EP, and “Long Story Short” gives off that mainstream sound but maintains his individuality among other artists. Not only has he grown as an artist but also as a marketer. By doing all of the extras, he’s developing a brand around himself, and one that is showing great promise.
