The rap game’s mad scientist RIVEN is back as a “MADMAN” experimenting with futuristic sounds and dynamic BPM on his new 7-track project. RIVEN’s mastery of his own style of mixing, production, and vocals is truly a marvelous talent that his home town Houston and the world has yet to discover. The biggest flex on this album is his chops and tempo changes that make him a good candidate for prodigy of hometown hero DJ Screw. He’d definitely be proud of what RIVEN is doing. RIVEN raps with carefree finesse in a way that considers his voice as another instrument blending in with the song.
Him and the projects only feature, Lilwaterbed, combine on “How It Feel” with tranquil vibes disturbed by distorted and chaotic 808s. Throughout the whole album RIVEN seems to dominate any vibe with “Hey Good Morning!” giving off beautiful energy and “The Blue Print” bringing out the rage in listeners. Both produced by himself. Other production credits include shxrkz, Healthykid, and The Hills. “Paradise333” is arguably the project’s most impressive song as he combines his otherworldly sounds with retro pop drums by producer jaybewavyy for a revolutionary feel good track.
Its really only a matter of time before RIVEN turns from my favorite lowkey discovery to a prominent influence in the game.
