In Florida, there’s a plethora of different sounds and vibes that artists lean towards. There’s just an unsaid status quo; so when someone from let’s say Hialeah that is super lyrically inclined and doesn’t tread on boom bap beats. If you remember the Rogue Life mixtape from Rogue Records, then you’ve caught a glimpse of what 20 year old Qil can do. He just released an EP which is supposed to cohesively lead into his debut project “Cloudscape”.
This EP, The Calm Before The Storm, is just 6 tracks of emotional but yet satisfyingly bumpable tunes that map out basically the life of Qil and his experiences. Following the release of the EP, he dropped a visual for “UP!” which is supposed to be the start of it all. The video features clips of his recent trip to Houston and venturing out to defining his place in the music world. This is not a guy you want to look over.
