Today we got a chance to talk to South Florida artist BREEZY about his new ep “Before the Juugs”
What is the meaning behind this mixtape and cover?
“Well, the Cover is by Blunt. It’s actually a mugshot of when I was locked up a year ago. This tape was to let go of inner mixed emotions. Everything in this is real life, things that I went through and never really told anyone about. From my mother passing away and me losing sight of things. I ended up hitting licks and becoming a criminal. This is the untold story of “Before the Juugs”. ”
When did you first start making music?
“Thats a long answer but let’s make it short. What most people don’t know is before I was rapping I was singing. You know I am lightskin after all. Alot of Chris brown, Ashanti, Michael Jackson to name a few early inspirations. I could say the hip hop portion started off from watching bet with artist rapping, I seen a live performance from Outkast and it just made me feel like it was possible. Showed me that anyone could make it with the right mindset. So that day I picked up the mic, Threw on some Weezy and Wiz and well…. here we are.”
What do you have planned for the rest of the year?
“Been working since the year started. Just came back from a tour in March. Last local show was Midnight Flight, shout out WaveGod. My people’s, Broken Windows, have alot coming this year. We back on tour in the fall. CrowdControl about to drop literally any second, Mxck and Orvcle just got the venue. I’m already plotting on the next tape, it’s in the works. I just plan on killing the game with consistency and a sound that’s all me. ”
Definitely an EP to add to your summer play list.!
