Next up in my artists to watch for 2021 is Tacoma, Washington native L’shawn. Although he’s always been interested in music since elementary school, it wasn’t until his junior year of high school he began recording. His latest drop, “Potion” is my favorite song of his to date and adequately sums up the progression he’s had throughout his the last year of consistent music releases. This song is more of an up-tempo vibe, where L’shawn displays his ability to harmonize and deliver a wide variety of flows on one song while still telling a message through his music. Brain Bakery alum Kody Lavigne is the perfect addition on the second half of the song, as he adds more clean melodies and bars to compliment L’shawn’s groundwork while equally highlighting the strengths of both artists. Already up over 1k monthly listeners on Spotify, he’s looking to turn that to 5k by the end of the year as well as release his hyper-pop inspired project just in time for the summer in June.
