New York rockstar, Lil Peep,(born as Gustav Åhr) has passed away, confirmed by his U.K representative. His death happened just two weeks after his 21st birthday, leaving the fans speechless. His tragedy is rumored to be due to overdose and he was apparently discovered dead on his tour bus in Tucson.
Due to his emotional tracks, Lil Peep has been rising in the music industry for over a year now. He released his debut album in August titled “Come Over When You’re Sober (Part One)”. His face tattoos and his unique style has earned him plenty of attention, getting him to model their clothing and pose for their magazines. He moved to Los Angeles after high school to pursue music and put out his first mixtape in 2015. After one of his prominent songs “Hellboy” became viral, he has bloomed ever since.
Sarah Stennett, the CEO of First Access Entertainment, a company who worked with the artist, stated “I am shocked and heartbroken. I do not believe Peep wanted to die, this is so tragic. He had huge ambition and his career was flourishing… I have spoken to his mother and she asked me to convey that she is very, very proud of him and everything he was able to achieve in his short life.”
Lil Peep has been known to suffer from depression and take plenty of drugs, (via his music and his social media). In a video before his death he posted on Instagram showing him taking prescription drugs and saying, “I’m good, I’m not sick.” He has posted multiple videos and posts on his Instagram, one of them saying, “When I die, you’ll love me”
About 48 hours before he passed, he was interviewed by Zane Lowe who has asked him how his depression has been since he went on tour. Emo artist said ”Yeah, definitely man. If anything, things have gotten worse”.
Zane went on to ask if he felt pressured because of the tour and struggled with the traveling. Again, Lil peep said, “Yeah. Things just get worse.”
The music industry and plenty of other people have paid tribute to him such as Post Malone, Riff Raff, Lil B, iLoveMakonnen, Bella Thorne, Smokepurrp,and more. He will continue to inspire those who listen to his music and will forever be remembered.
