Wow do we have a treat for you readers. East LA is holding some serious gold in the underground, radiating from Josh Young. He just dropped a new 10-track project Young Season that exhibits every ounce of his passion towards his music. Like, this tape is something serious. Every track brings a whole new vibe that you’d never expect both with his solos and choice of features. Highlights like “Thuggish Ruggish Young” featuring Texas’ GwapGang members GwapMizzle and Phee6z that know how to hit a melody like Three Six Mafia. Or even with his “Intro”, which he really didn’t have to go so hard but he did and you can detect the great musicians that rise in spirit with his voice. Our Brain Bakery favorite had to be both “Back Seat” featuring Zaybooty for it’s menacing hardness and “Nights Alone Interlude” because it was a real switch up to a free-flowing music massage. A soothing soul like Kendrick Lamar and Kid Cudi mixed with the explosive lyricism of Outkast with a hint of Joey Badass but there’s still a unique sensibility when you just feel the music more than turning up.

Off this tape alone, you can just infer that music has been something Josh was into his entire life. He was used to being the entertainer and discovered he can give purpose to that love and share it with other people the way music is able to speak to many. The feeling of witnessing strangers enjoy something he made powered him to go hard. With this strong mind, he wrangled in like-minded extra-ordinaries including those mentioned along with 10ktaedoe, LIL Southside Kaleeks, and Trip. These guys are the truth between Texas and California and they should be getting a lot more recognition. Needless to say, this work was instantly added to our daily listening; it’s just that good. Give your attention to Josh Young and his associates because these artists are going places.
