009 is a producer out of Boston, MA, who dropped an EP titled “Archives.” He collaborated with Stylez B, whom he’s worked with plenty of times. They came together and created a stellar 5-song EP that anyone and everyone can enjoy. At the base of it, the EP is superb, but once the listener dives deeper into the sounds of each artist, a whole new awing side of the project exhibits.
Based on 009’s entire discography, it’s clear he is a master of his craft, but this EP puts the spotlight on his ear for a new bubbling sound. For most of “Archives,” 009 chose to go for lower-toned melodies paired with an even lower and heavy bass. These beats are sure to shake your car but don’t let the hype of the track make you overlook his ear for melodies. For example, on “Cruise,” the listener is greeted with a singing-bowl-type piece that first comes off as soothing, but when Stylez B and the drums arrive, the song gets an added dimension making it both calming and hype.
Stylez B is unlike a lot of the underground today. Autotune has taken a back seat for many artists, including him. He chose to keep his preset minimal, thus making his voice and delivery sound more direct. Instead of singing about something, it feels like he is talking to the listeners, creating a more collaborative experience between the two parties. Doing so makes a more engaging moment with him and his fans.
