Incase you couldn’t tell, a large portion of today’s hip-hop music has lost it’s emphasis on lyricism. DXCT, a gifted rap artist from Kansas, is continuing to show why lyrics and creative messages still hold a huge spot in this genre. Having worked on music full time for the past six years, he’s been able to polish his technical abilities and consistently deliver quality rap music for his old and new listeners. Along the way, he’s created a recording label called “Mtphscs” as well as a clothing brand. Specifically in this past year, he tells us he’s been able the find his own sound and carve his own niche, which played a huge part in his latest mixtape release, “HOLIDAY”.
Coming off his “TEA EP 2” release a few months ago, he brings us this six song project entirely produced by bsd.u. Production on this tape was simply immaculate, with every beat creating the almost perfect balance to DXCT’S alternate flows. You would think that with so many words being rapped, beats wouldn’t be as significant, but in this case, both artist and producer showed how seamless one could compliment the other. Virtually every track is a head-bopper with flows that keep you focused on every detail of the song.
