Devin More released his brand new project, check out his latest offering “Lost In The Darkest Matter” a 5 track project filled with great records. We got the chance to sit down with the young upcoming artist before his latest release check out the conversation we had below.
Who is Devin More?
Devin More is a producer, recording artist, and songwriter. The 20 year old divides his time between Boston and Miami.
Describe your upbringing, growing up in Miami and Boston.
It’s just a lot of variation. In Boston, I had a normal childhood. I played basketball and baseball. I was really active. And at the end of middle school, I moved from Boston to Miami which was a big change for me. Not a bad change though. It’s a different culture out here. I’ve been here since then, It’s been 6 years.
Who were some of your influences?
I’m a big fan of A$AP and that whole movement he has going on. I’m also into R&B a lot, I’m always listening to melodic music. Artists like Ty Dolla $ign and PARTYNEXTDOOR.
What are your fondest musical memories? In your house? In your neighborhood or town?
On my own time, Hip-Hop would influence me. At home, my pops would always put me on to the 60’s 70’s so I’m really familiar with The O’Jays, Elton John, Al Green, etc.
Recall the first song you wrote.
It was my eighth grade year. I might have been 13 or 14. It was a love song I collaborated on with a neighborhood friend.
When did you begin to pursue music seriously?
Ever since I got into production my Sophomore year of high school. I was tired of depending on other producers for beats so I just taught myself. Throughout the week, I’d upload new music and started to notice growth. I’m really glad I made that decision.
I see you have production credits on your last project how musically are you involved in the creation from beginning to the end of a track.
We made Sin City, Jon Montes [producer] and I just wanted to create what we thought sounded right. No opinions. No suggestions. It was strictly melodies that came to us most organically. Each song was a different vibe, it was a lot of different tones and emotion. Sin City was more than a location, it was an album where someone from a city of sin could relate to each song and all these different topics.
How have you evolved musically since your last release Sin City?
I’d say I’ve evolved a lot in the 5 months since I released my last project. Now, I’m really focused on creating something that people will wanna replay. Something catchy that people would love to hear at shows. I’m just grateful to see growth between these two bodies of work. It’s been a journey and an experience to create something from nothing and be proud of it.
What are you working on right now?
Right now I’m just working on singles to put out after the EP. Just experimenting with it.
What is the name of your upcoming project?
Lost In The Darkest Matter.
What’s different about this project?
It’s short, sweet and melodic. It’s a glimpse of the new sound I’ve created and something totally different than my last project. A lot of this music is conversational and relatable to people in this generation. Most of the music is just a spark of emotions and personal thoughts.
