The expressive track is an exploratory venture into more melodic territory for Roses, who retains his experimental hip-hop sound on this song but opts for injecting a dose of alternative R&B into the mix. Vibrant synths and addictive drum lines create a colourful backdrop for Roses and Haunts, as they both deliver well-crafted performances that showcase their natural synergy as collaborators. Moored by a memorable, character-rich hook, as well as dextrous, versatile verses, “Bells and Bugs” is an engaging, expansive new offering from Roses and Royal Haunts that follows up Roses’ previous track “The City”, which flirted with noise and punk influences for a more raucous release.
