Everyone knows for the most part that the music industry is a hectic, fast paced environment where Murphy’s Law seems to rule. Amongst some of the individuals that keep the industry on their toes is the famously known celebrity booking agent known as SoTalented. The Queens, NY native has worked with the likes of Young Dolph, Keyglock, Jay Critch and many, many more. I had the honor of briefly interviewing him and this is how it went, check out the interview below:
- Please tell your audience a little bit about yourself.
My name is SoTalented & I am a celebrity booking agent, entrepreneur & more. I was born and raised in Queens New York. I love music. I always loved music and playing basketball since a kid. I love to travel.
2. What inspired you to begin to booking celebrity talent?
I always loved going to concerts. I went to a few Lil Durk shows, those were my first ever concerts I ever attended. Not gonna lie booking telling was never a goal or nothing. It literally just happened. One day someone reached out to me, to book Dave East because they saw I was with him. I messaged Dave East and made it happen. Going to concerts is fun, but once you throw concert on your own it’s a different type of feeling.
3. Could you describe the every day for an entrepreneur like yourself.
Everyday for SoTalented can be random, you never know what might pop up on the table, the music industry is random, in a good and bad way. Artists are always flying in and out randomly. Every day I try to focus on what’s my next move, scout out new artists I might wanna book or keep a eye on. A lot of my work is on my phone or involves me traveling. So it really depends what I have planned that day. Some days I might have a concert so I might be busy all day.
4. Do you focus on music endeavors solely?
I don’t focus on only music , but I do focus on it a lot for sure. I also have a clothing brand I been working on and also have a few ideas I wanna invest in that aren’t music related. One thing I learned, you need multiple different incomes coming in. So its always good to do focus on a couple of things.
5. Please name some of the talent that been your favorite to work with so far.
I’ve worked with artists such as Jay Critch, Dave East, G Herbo, Playboi Carti, Kay Flock, Rah Swish, Young Dolph, Ohgeesy, Young Dolph, Rah Swish, Shawny Binladen, Sfera Ebbasta, Sidhu Moosewala, Lil Durk, B Lovee.
6. What are you focused on for the remainder of 2022?
For the remainder of the 2022 I am focused on building up SoTalented to more than just me. I want to have a team that works just for SoTalented entertainment. I want to build an empire, something people will never forget. I want to keep selling out shows and doing bigger events. I want to expand my clothing brand as well. I definitely want to do some more shows outside of the USA as well.
7. What advice would you give an upcoming Entrepreneur that you could’ve given yourself at the beginning of your journey?
Advice I would give someone else I wish someone gave me is be prepared for anything. The music industry is crazy so you never know what might happen. Don’t let nothing hurt your feelings, never let the hate get to you. When you work in the music industry, you get a lot of hate. You just have to stay focused and keep winning and ignore those people. Also don’t ever let anybody tell you that you can’t do something. Look at me, people used to tell me the same and I ignored them and kept working.
