Aldo Martinez, better know as vr3tro, is a front runner in the digital design and photography world. This 18 year old from Virginia, already has a respectable body of work and leaves us eager to see what else he has up his sleeve. He began taking visual arts more seriously during his sophomore year in high school. The summer before entering high school he had already begun messing around with Photoshop. ” The first ever edit I made was a cropping of Lil B over a Goku photo, which was so funny but so trash at the same time. I spent that time really just messing around and practicing with Photoshop, the following year (sophomore year) I started to go into the direction of creating alternative covers to really work on my muscle for design. That same year, I was given a Nikon for Christmas and from there on I ended up picking up an interest for not just design but photography also” Mr. Martinez explained.
As if his digital designs didn’t already stand out, his signature style of combining photography and digital design(s) is unlike any we have seen before. ” I don’t really believe in or feel comfortable with the idea of just doing one thing, so far I’ve dabbled in design, photography, a little set design, worked on a personal sculpture, dedicated some sketchbooks to drawing my own characters, personally-producing, soon visuals, and just whatever in the future I will have a curiosity for, I will jump at with no hesitation” expressed Mr. Martinez. I feel he has much potential and will only continue to leave us in awe with his work.
