This up and coming visual artist from Florida has an eclectic style of his own. Bernie to some, DeadMonBernz to the masses, was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. His family eventually moved to Florida and by the time he was just 14 years old he knew exactly where he wanted to direct his creative energy. When asked about what sparked his interest in visual artistry, he replied: “It was 2005 and I remember Pharrell was on 106 & Park, he had on the illest ice cream and BBC fit and I begged my moms to cop me pair of the sneakers. Fast forward, we went to this sneaker spot.. and the shoebox looked like a tub of ice cream..”. I certainly understand how someone as iconic as Pharrell, putting out something so conceptual, clothing/art into one, could be so influential. After that moment he began to study and research clothing, that opened up yet another door: Art, as a whole. “I got into all the classical forms of art and educated myself on legends like Caravaggio , Da Vinci , George Condo, Warhol, Haring , and many others.”
He considers his style as “a bit of the 90’s fused with the 2000’s and just drowned in what we, the youth, like today”. Some of his influences are from every realm of artistry: Virgil Abloh , Keith Haring, Caravaggio, April Greiman, Kate Moross, Saul Bass, Chief Keef, Jay-Z, Diddy, Nigo, Pharrell, Kanye West & Joey Badass. I feel that DeadMonBernz is going to be one of the most influential visual artists of our generation. His hard work is sure paying off, be prepared to see a whole lot more of it. He has an art magazine in the works, he was just added as a member of the Goodluck Forever Team, works with 1AM Vibes and more. I urge you all to follow his journey to the top!
