At Brain Bakery Magazine, we strive to learn about artists from all walks of life from South Florida and beyond. Though we are more in tuned to music, it’s a treat when we spot someone grinding in a different field of the music industry. We would like to introduce to you ARTBYHEATER, a 19 year old graphic designer in the making hailing from Clarkston, Michigan. Connor Heaton has had art and design running through his veins since birth basically. He was always more inclined to doing his own rough sketches rather than doing what his classes taught.
What had kicked off the maturation to the computer for graphic design was actually a Photoshop class, which hilarious enough he ended up failing; but that sparked the drive in him to pursue this path and now he’s going for a BFA in Graphic Design at Northern Michigan University.
His age and ambition are definitely some of his strengths that helped him get into the music industry. Connor was always more intrigued by the cover art rather than the song. He even told us that if someone’s cover art catches his eye, he’s more than likely to listen to that song or project. That lit a fire beneath him to spread out and consistently market himself to underground and upcoming artists to design their covers. Funny enough in this small world, Connor actually designed the cover art for some of The Mag and South Florida’s rising favorites Matt Gantos and his single “Broken Windows” with Dxddy Mxck. He works best alone in a quiet area with his headphones just bumping the latest hits while making up designs for them.
Connor hopes to officially launch his website and turn his art into merchandise while he finishes his degree within the next upcoming months. This guy has his whole life ahead of him to do whatever he wants but he’s putting in the work now and that’s what we love to see in aspiring creatives.
