Virginia artists Allyn and jsn. have dropped off a fresh new EP called CHROME SOUL. Chock full of captivating, engaging melodies and shimmering instrumentation, CHROME SOUL finds the artists delving into new territory creatively. The EP also follows an interesting narrative, one of the joys of a new relationship, letting go of past issues and pains, acceptance of what you truly need, and the focus it requires to continue on in life while staying true to the one you love the most. The project is vibrant and infectious, deftly combining sounds and styles from alternative R&B, alt-pop, indie, and more throughout.
“INITIALIZATION”, introduces the EP’s engaging theme, “an experimental journey that is designed to transform you as you progress into your relationship.” One of our personal favourites from the project, “P.O.V.”, opens the EP strongly with atmospheric sonics and catchy, sharply-crafted melodies. “TEMPORARY” is another effective track, with layered instrumentation centred around captivating, addictive guitars, glowing keys, and infectious percussion. “HALFWAY” adds extra dynamics to the project with slower, deliberate grooves that immerse the listener in the track’s warm feel. The EP closes with “FORWARD”, which contains elegant instrumentation and showcases the group’s penchant for focused, memorable melodies and songwriting.
